Junior Year. The year of decisions.
Education, the amount you take in is based upon critical decisions. When we were four, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our things were silly answers like astronauts, president, or in my case, a princess. As soon as we turned ten they asked us again. We answered a little more realistically by saying a rockstar, gold medalist, or in my case, a veterinarian. But now that we are grown up, we are expected to have a more serious answer. Unfortunately, most of us do not have a clue. Junior year is all about finding that one amazing interest and pursuing it to work towards your goals.
This year, I began focusing on classes I need to take in order to complete all my required credits. I have also started to realize that college is almost around the corner, so I have also become more focused on obtaining high test scores. Education is helping my future by allowing me to get into a good college. If I continue to do well in high school and begin to gain even more involvement in my community, than I believe I can apply to top colleges and get accepted. Right now, I plan on attending Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids.
Grand Valley has an amazing physical therapy program, which is the career pathway I am looking into. I am already interning for a local physical therapist and have 14+ hours invested. I intern every tuesday for two hours. While I am there, I follow a therapist, learn about muscle groups/bones, and assist in any way possible. I am very fortunate to have this opportunity in my life. Education is shaping my life in all different areas. It has taught me how to be responsible and that if I work hard, my life will be a huge and happy success.
Other News:
This year I actually got a job at a local gymnastics institute. I am in charge of teaching rec classes that introduce kids to all the events. I am also in charge of running the boys classes. It's fun having a job that allows me to teach something I enjoy doing. I plan on continuing to work there for as long as I can.
