My Future Plans
As teenage students, we are reaching the end of our high school career and the beginning of college life. We are all going our separate ways as we start applying for admissions and scholarships. Each one of us is one step closer to entering the business world and working towards degrees in different job fields. Now is the time that we choose what we want to do for the rest of our lives and put effort towards gaining degrees in our own areas of interest. For me, college is going to be a huge change and adjustment, but I feel very prepared. I know that I want to attend school to gain my doctorate for Physical Therapy.
After high school I am going to attend Eastern Michigan University. They offered me a scholarship of $26,000 over four years. Each year I will receive $6,500 of that scholarship. I plan on staying there for four years and then transferring to Grand Valley. I was accepted to both colleges, but Eastern was just a better fit for the time being. Most likely I will commute the first year and then live around campus. One of my goals is to meet knew people and make new friends, especially to have study groups since school will be my main focus.
To gain a doctorate for physical therapy, it will take me about six to seven years. That is a lot of schooling and I will need to keep a good budget on my money in order to avoid large student loans. To help finish my degree faster, I plan on enrolling into a couple online classes over summer. This will help me save time and get to my dream job faster.
I know physical therapy is the job I want to pursue. I currently have obtained over forty hours in internship hours at a local clinic. The atmosphere of the work place and getting to help people is my favorite part about being a physical therapist. I also love that sitting behind a desk is not part of the job descriptions. Instead, you get to move around with patients and communicate in a friendly area. Being an athlete, I have had to go through a lot of physical therapy myself. It is overall just something I really enjoy doing.
My current goals for education would be to finish out high school with my 3.98 GPA and to be very involved in Eastern’s programs for physical therapy. In college, my goals would be to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA and allow a majority of my time for studying. I want to be strongly focused on school, but also have an outside life. Therefore, I plan to be involved on campus by joining sports clubs. Volleyball and tennis would be the two sports I would sign up for. Clubs will also help me meet new people and have a break from school. I will be dedicated to achieving my degree and become a very successful physical therapist.
After I finish up schooling for my career path, thats when I want to obtain a steady job. I am someone who wants to be able to stand on their own and not have to depend on someone else for money or help all the time. After I have secured a job I want to get married to the right guy. All I know for now is that I want to be married for a couple years and travel the world with my husband before I have children. It could all change, but these are my plans for now. I definitely believe I’m on track for a very happy future. I know there will be difficult obstacles along the way, but those just help us define what the joyful moments are in our life. I can accomplish anything I put my mind to!
